Hi everyone! My name is Kevin Tian, and I am a rising sophomore primarily interested in mathematics and computer science studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I plan to pursue graduate studies in a related field, and am very eager to learn and explore as much as I can when it comes to research. Some of my other interests include music (I play several instruments and love to sing), basketball (I am a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs), and making new friends.

I had previously done research during the summers of 2010 and 2011 with the mathematics department here at Texas State, through the Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp program. Currently, I am working in data mining with the computer science department under Dr. Gao. Our research focuses on assigning a similarity parameter to pairs of vertices in a hypergraph by using the set of edge relations provided, in particular in k-partite graphs consisting of several homogeneous domains. I hope to learn about computer science research through my project and contribute as much as I can, and look forward to a great summer with you all.

Kevin Tian
