Why is this picture so huge???

June 4th:

My name is Paris and I am completely unsure what to put in this article. Let's start with basic information. I am a student at Southwestern University in Georgetown TX. I live in Dale TX, which is not even big enough to be available on most maps (although Google maps has recently seen fit to honor us with its acknowledgement). I am working under Dr. Ngu on the WEAvE project. So far the first day has been pretty busy, and I am excited for what the experience I will have here at texas state.

August 1st:

Well it has definitely been a long time since I've updated this; Steve and I have been working hard on this project from the get-go. As such I've had little time to update this article. Sorry, but I don't have a picture to put on here (I'm very camera shy).I've sure got a lot to write about by now! This project has been one of the most enlightening experiences of my life. I am very appreciative to have been given the opportunity to participate in this program.

Steve and I were handed a project we knew almost nothing about and code that we couldn't even begin to understand and now we are walking away with something that, while not perfect by any means, we can still be proud to have accomplished. At times the going was very difficult and stressful, we made some wrong turns and got lost along the way, but between the two of us, we maintained our focus and our motivation and it carried us through to the finish. The only things that could have helped us achieve more would have been more time and a better initial understanding of the project.

Since I started, I feel like I have really grown: I have learned several new concepts and techniques computer science; expanded by horizon in terms of knowledge of the field, its possibilities, and the opportunities it gives; and I have developed as a problem solver. These things alone make the experience more than worthwhile for me. But there were other things to make it even better: the cool and fun people from across the country that I met while here; and the trips to several big name companies (e.g. IBM) that directly exemplified where I could go with my future.

I don't know what else that is important for me to mention, so I'm going to go ahead and sign off. Hope I didn't bore you to death.
